According to reports, rapper Lil Kesh has left Olamide’s record label YBNL.
The news which broke out over the weekend has seen both parties directly involved – Olamide and Lil Kesh not come out to comment yet, further fueling the rumours.
Kesh was signed to Olamide’s YBNL imprint in April 2014 at the time when he was still an underground act.
The young rapper’s debut single ‘Shoki’ shot him to the limelight with the song arguably becoming even more popular than he was. The hit song produced by Major Bangz went on to have a remix featuring label boss Olamide and HKN boss Davido, further elevating the song’s status.
Olamide came out in a series of tweets to say he wants his proteges to be great and not dependent slaves adding that he signed them for just two years hoping they would turn out stars good enough to stand on their own by then.
Lil Kesh has now his own luxury home with a studio which he used to record his debut album “Y.A.G.I”, which he released in March 2016.
Reports also have it that the rapper Kesh plans on floating his own record label and start a new movement. Speaking with Pulse TV, the rapper said his benchmark for success would be signing new artistes and seeing them emerge big just like what Olamide has done for him.
A rep spoke to Pulse on condition of anonymity saying “Everything you have read is false. They are all rumors. Lil Kesh is signed to YBNL on a contract, and it has not ended.”
Lil Kesh narrowly lost out to Reekado Banks in the Headies 2015 Next Rated Award category which afterwards birthed controversies on social media for a while.
