Wizkid has recorded music with Sean Paul.
The singer continues to gather momentum in his bid to crossover into the international market, his latest effort collaborating with Sean Paul, who recently knocked off Wizkid and Drake‘s ‘One dance’ off the Billboard Hot 100 charts courtesy his feature with Sia’s ‘Cheap thrills’.
The new collaboration follows his increasingly successful foray into the American market including the Drake ‘One dance’ feat, his Afro Trap single ‘Shabba’ featuring Chris Brown, Trey Songz and French Montana, amongst others.
Wizkid coincidentally granted a fan’s hopeful wish tweet imagining what a Wizkid Sean Paul collaboration would sound like. The star singer on receiving the tweet responded, “This just happened today!! Hahaha my guy u sure u no be FBI? Scary!!“
Sean Paul discussed his love for Afrobeats in a recent interview with The FADER, explaining that he was introduced to the contemporary Nigerian sound in Atlanta: “[Afrobeats] was news to me at the time: it reminded me of what Kevin Lyttle and Rupee were trying to do with soca but Afrocentric, a step further, and sounding even more modern than what we were doing.”
Anticipate good music.
