The Presidency has denied reports that it has been offered a negotiation deal by terrorist sect, Boko Haram.
Earlier media reports had it that the sect’s leadership was willing to return to the negotiating table with the government following a failed deal during the Goodluck Jonathan administration.
The Associated Press also reported that the terrorists had offered to exchange the abducted Chibok girls for some of their detained colleagues.
President Muhammadu Buhari’s media aide, Femi Adesina however denied the reports saying that the sect had not made any such offer to the government.
“They (the sect leaders) have not reached out to us. For us, the source of that information is not official. If they contact us formally, we shall reply them officially,” Adesina told Punch.
“For now, we have not heard from them and so we cannot be talking on this,” he added.
Adesina had earlier said that the Nigerian government would be willing to negotiate with the terrorists but only from a position of strength.
